Mood Journal 41

Was away for the whole week. Work sucks.

It's the end of the year already. Will try to summarize the EDM scene for year 2010.

Till then...enjoy this sick tech-house track by Julian Jeweil of Air Conditionne fame.

Mood Journal 40

Came back from watching Tron: Legacy. Stunning visuals and Daft Punk's music, but spoilt by lousy scripts. Still, worth a watch.

Getting ready for Freedom party tomorrow !!

Signing off with an outlandish vocal tech tune by the always-delivers John O' Callaghan.

Streamyx is screwing with me; can't check my emails or load Youtube.

That aside, my friend bought us the tickets for the party at KL Live this Sat 18th Dec. Are you all ready for Simon Patterson ? I'm sure i'm ready as hell. Screw work.

Back in trance mood after Thirst Euphoria.

Mood Journal 38

Still in Thirst euphoria.

Still remember Tiesto dropped Tomcraft's Loneliness in Godskitchen 2002, and it was so huge at that time. Having heard it again in Richard Durand's set, the feeling is just unbelievable. Reliving the memories of early 2000's rave and the youth in me.

Wicked and sick mashup by Durand; let the music do the talking:

Mood Journal 37

Just got back from Godskitchen Boombox.

With the potent mix of rain+confetti drizzle, superb 3D graphic and real life projections, and quality music, I must say it was one of the best raves i've attended; somewhere in top 3, just losing out to the high-octane Velocity and the dreamy Renault Pit Party (both in 2006).

Was disappointed that the police stopped the party at 2.20am. Didn't expect Richard Durand to close the sets, so we lost 30 good minutes of good music.

Some of the tracks heard are (i could be wrong =/) :

Thrillseekers - Synaesthesia
Chuckie & Hardwell - Move It 2 The Drum
Chuckie - Let The Bass Kick
Chuckie - Aftershock
MSTRKRFT feat. John Legend - Heartbreaker (Laidback Luke Remix)
Robbie Rivera & Dero - I Love Batucada (Maurizio Gubellini & Matteo Sala Remix)
Simon Gain & Joey Seminara - Booster
Kaskade feat. Haley - Dynasty (Dada Life Remix)
The Bloody Beetroots feat. Steve Aoki - Warp 1.9 (something cool happened when it was played)
Martin Solveig feat. Dragonette - Hello (Sidney Samson Remix)
Ducksauce - Barbara Streisand
Daft Punk - One More Time
Hardwell - Voyage
John O' Callaghan feat. Sarah Howells - Find Yourself (Heatbeat Remix)
Sander van Doorn - Intro (XX Booty Mix)
Sander van Doorn - Daisy
Sander van Doorn - Daddyrock
Purple Haze - Hymn 2.0
Radion 6 - Streets of New York
Faithless - Tweak Your Nipple (Tiesto Remix)
Jon O' Bir feat. Fisher - Found A Way (JOC Remix)
The Killers - Spaceman (SVD Remix)
CSI vs. Marco V - Direct Dizko & Godd (mashup)
Richard Durand - Into Something
Richard Durand - Always The Sun
Richard Durand - Dryland (Phynn Remix)
Andrew Bennett - Adagio For Strings
Binary Finary - 1998 (mashup?)
Art of Trance - Madagascar (mashup?)
Cirez D vs. Tomcraft - Bauerpost & Loneliness (Richard Durand Mashup)
Paul van Dyk - For An Angel (Richard Durand Remix?)
Plastikman vs Tiesto - Spastik Lethal Industry (mashup)

5 more hours to go for Godskitchen Boombox !

Another raise-your-hands-up-in-the-air track from Sunny Lax and Solex. A potential tune tonight.

Mood Journal 35

A good break day. Batteries charged and ready for tomorrow :)

The latest release by Simon Patterson, Mood Swing/Latika imo are results of overused of recycled kick drums and melody. Would like the guy from Belfast to pick up some courage and alter his style, like what he did in the track Different Feeling.

Nevertheless, his new tunes still pack a punch and highly likely to be played in Sepang.

Mood Journal 34

Experiencing puddi puddi attack; can't stop watching the video.

Imma getting a Giga Pudding soon lol.

And it's Thirst rave in two days time!! Hope that the DJs drop something along this line:

Mood Journal 33

The end is near. The wait is ending.

Back to the warm up session. Richard Durand's latest track, Dryland is a killer ISOS-feel trance track and it's definitely getting played in Sepang this Sat.

Back from outstation work. Sick and tired.

Can't wait for the weekend.

A classic Sander van Doorn tune to warm up for this Sat's rave.

Mood Journal 31

Bought Godskitchen Boombox's tickets today. Ready to party this Sat :D

Heard a dark and deep tech house track by IO and Tish few days ago. Imo it's a good tune to kick start a set; worth a spin in a cold Sunday night.

Mood Journal 30

Looking for the dim light at the end of tunnel.

Been busy the whole week. Hoping for respite on the weekend.

Music-wise, it's a famine in comparison. Have recycled old tunes in my player back and again.

In search of choons.

I'll have the awesome psy-trance masters, Quantize to close this post.

Mood Journal 29

Back from Kuala Terengganu. Had never driven in a worse condition; treacherous and light-less roads, torrential and monsoon rains, huge lorries at 150km/h and cars at 60km/h (pun intended).

Back to the music. Trying to cure my driving hangover with some good weekend music, and while searching for gold, i found this classic 2007 tech trance tune by Heatbeat. Trance producers should start making stuffs like this again, or risk losing their core fans to other genres.

Mood Journal 28

Had a nice outing with colleagues last night and a day to rest and chill.

Another month to go for the biggest rave event this year, Godskitchen Boombox.

Been busy with work; not much new stuffs to introduce. So, a classic rave tune will do to prep up the mood for the coming Boombox.

Mood Journal 27

The end is nigh.

Time to make a move.

Would love to sip vodka lime, listening to chilling tune and gazing at the blue ocean. This track by Psycatron augments that feeling; good one for a weekend break, which i'm damn eagerly awaiting for.

Mood Journal 26

Loving the three day Friday-weekend combo break.

I can't comprehend the hype surrounding Uniqlo's opening in KL (good thousand of beings lining up to enter a clothing store??). For me i didn't bother entering the Singapore's branch and came out empty handed in Tokyo's.

Sticking to this week's D&B theme, a Dirtyphonic's 2009 track with influences from D.I.M and Telemetrik caught my ear. Will return to random EDM tunes next week.

Mood Journal 25

Hereby I officially declare this week is the Pendulum....errr DRUM & BASS WEEK!

It's been a year of D&B for me (last year was tech house); with so many eargasm releases, the other genres have to buck up and trance is so yesterday.

The pick for today is a playfully done D&B track called Polygon from Shock One. Wear the dancing shoes people and hit the floor !

Mood Journal 24

Good Saturday and Sunday to recharge the batteries. Abundant time to review some tracks/mixes and do some chores at home.

Got myself Pendulum's 2010 Essential Mix; oh my, what a great mix from the world's most famous drum & bass rock band. If you don't know Pendulum, i don't know where you've been.

This track by Gridlok and Dom, London's Burning was given a deep and sinister remix by the brilliant Prolix, and was featured in that mix. Beware of ear damage.

Mood Journal 23

Terrible day at work. Need to start looking elsewhere.

Negatives aside, Joshua Harvey a.k.a Herve and Rufio produced a highly dance-able, funky disco, carnival-ish, Arabesque house track in the form of Hot Rod; gets your body move on Friday night.

Mood Journal 22

Stress. I'm having a lot of it lately; so much i think my hair's falling. Thank God for creating EDM, my sole mode for de-stressing.

Was listening to Noisia's EM on my way back from work; the Dutch trio really know how to pump the bass and blend in good amount of melodies and harmonics, and the track Deception from their latest album 'Split The Atom' personifies that.

Mood Journal 22

Busy, busy week really. Had a topsy-turvy experience while working in Ipoh. Thank goodness i'm still in one piece and typing here.

Listened to Marco V's latest release, The Art Of (TAO) compilation mix, the other day; it was awesomely mixed by the Dutch master. This particular track by NDSA remixed by the brilliant Save the Robot (again?!) shines the most.

p/s: Can't believe Seb Leger, J00F and Noisia didn't make the top 100 DJ list. Farce indeed. Marco V only got to #67 with my first pick *blergh*

Played PES 2011 over the weekend at friend's place. More awesome added into an already awesome football game. If you are football game manic, make PES the game you buy.

Speaking of awesome, Daniel Portman did it again. His recent tune, Darkside is just simply mind-blowing. Though you might have to jack up the bpm a bit for maximum pleasure, like i always do to certain progressive/tech house releases.

Mood Journal 20

Been sick for three days.

Overwork and horrible weather is a 'fatal' mix.

Currently relaxing and recharging my batteries at home. While surfing around for DJmag news, found this excellent classic from year 1992 by 3 Phase. Even after nearly two decades, Der Klang Der Familie is still surprisingly fresh.

Mood Journal 19

Tired, fatigued, weary.

Yet, was fun meeting so many professionals, event management is really my thing, i guess.

Good music is the best way to unwind a long day. On my way back home today, a psy-trance track by Delirious caught my attention and i had to share it this goodie.

Mood Journal 18

Urgh.

Been consuming dirt, dust, sand and sweat whole week.

Had to skip Carl Cox.

Urgh urgh.

Was skimming through my collection and found a very underrated trance tune by Moonbeam, remixed by Terry Ferminal. What do you think ?

Mood Journal 17

Crossroad again.

Decision time again.

Should or should not?

Not exactly a tune that mirrors my mood, but it's cheeky stuff from Cajmere, coupled with a Riva Starr remix. Warming up for Carl Cox at Zouk KL this Friday.

Mood Journal 16

Decided to recycle my Mood Journal header for each post.

It's been two years of detachment from my blog. Went through scores of ups and downs, getting older and wiser. Folks around my age starting to build families of their own, changing their taste and lifestyle. Been wondering much, what has life got to offer ?

How would you walk a path not knowing what lies ahead ?

How do you persist in walking the chosen path and being faithful ?

I believe many people question themselves, how, why, when, where to tread the path. Do you ?

Wrapping up with a chilling, synth pop with traces of euphoric trance by Masmod.

Back

I'm back, from a very long culture fast.

This blog is heading to a new direction; watch this space.

Signing off with an awesome track from Underworld.
